COPPA Notice

Edufied is an Australian educational platform designed for use in school environments. It may be used with students under the age of 13.

Under COPPA, operators of online services that knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 must follow specific rules. Edufied complies with COPPA through the school-consent model: when a school's teacher creates student accounts on the Platform, the school provides consent on behalf of parents for the collection and use of that student's personal information for educational purposes.

When a teacher creates a student account, we collect the following information about the student, regardless of age:

• First name
• Last name initial (one or two characters: not a full surname)
• Username (chosen by the teacher)
• PIN (stored as a secure cryptographic hash: we cannot read the original PIN)
• Year level (optional)
• Class enrolment
• Learning progress and activity data within the assigned educational tools

We do not collect:

• Email addresses from students
• Home addresses
• Phone numbers
• Dates of birth
• Photos or videos
• Geolocation data
• Any information directly from students at account creation: all accounts are created by teachers

We use student information solely to provide the educational services the school has assigned. Specifically:

• To allow students to log in and access their assigned tools.
• To display learning progress to the student's teacher.
• To enable the features of the Edufied applications the school has activated.

We do not use student information for:

• Targeted advertising
• Behavioural profiling
• Any commercial purpose unrelated to providing educational services

We do not sell student data.

Edufied uses the school-consent model consistent with COPPA's school-official exception. By creating student accounts on the Platform:

• The school's teacher confirms that the school has authorised collection of student information for use on Edufied.
• The school acts as the agent for parents in providing consent for educational use of the student's data.
• This consent is limited to educational use only. We will not use student data for any other purpose.

Parents and guardians of children under 13 have the right to:

• Review the personal information collected from their child.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of their child's information from our Platform.
• Refuse further collection or use of their child's information.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact privacy@edufied.com.au. Please include your child's first name, username (if known), and the name of their school. We will work with the school and responsible teacher to respond promptly.

Note: deleting a student's account will remove their access to the Platform and all associated learning progress.

We protect student data using encryption in transit and at rest, cryptographic hashing of all PINs, and role-based access controls. For full details see our Privacy Policy.
